Hunger-Eze Takeaway is a delightful hidden gem nestled on 21 Rapid Bay Rd in Delamere, South Australia, offering an authentic Thai culinary experience like no other. This unique takeout spot operates out of a charming little red trailer positioned on the owner’s driveway, creating an intimate and homely vibe that immediately invites you in.
The menu is a vibrant celebration of Thai street food, bursting with fresh, bold flavors that transport you straight to the bustling food stalls of Bangkok. From the satisfyingly spicy kopraow chicken to the iconic Pad Thai, each dish is skillfully prepared with care and precision, capturing the essence of traditional Thai cooking. The spicy, aromatic dishes are perfectly balanced—piquant, fragrant, and incredibly fresh—making every bite a genuine delight for your palate.
Despite the absence of seating arrangements—true to its takeaway-only concept—the experience here is far from ordinary. Patrons consistently praise the warmth of the service and the cozy atmosphere surrounding the food cart. Guests often recount the friendly encounters with the owners and their adorable pups, adding a heartfelt personal touch to the visit. One passerby even fondly remembers feeding the resident emus while waiting, turning a simple meal pickup into a memorable outing.
Visitors have called Hunger-Eze “the best Thai food within a 70km radius” and marvel at its authentic taste, comparable to that of roadside stalls in Thailand. Whether you’re passing through Rapid Bay or returning from Kangaroo Island, this is the kind of culinary find that surprises and delights, making it a must-stop for anyone craving genuine Thai flavors in a down-to-earth setting.
Reasonably priced, freshly cooked, and packed with flavor, Hunger-Eze Takeaway is much more than just a takeaway spot—it’s a heartfelt homage to Thai street food culture, run with passion and authenticity. If you cherish good food with an inviting vibe and local charm, this place will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

Found this thai food cart near cape jarvis. The cart was sitting on the driveway of the owner's house, so basically the food was homemade food. This was the most authentic tasting authentic thai food we had in australia. Everything tasted like a road side food stall in Bangkok. This place is only for take away so no good seating arrangement.

Thai food in the middle of nowhere. A pleasant and tasty find. Was delicious. Not a lot of seating if the weather is bad. Tasty and reasonably priced.

The Thai food from this place is absolutely fantastic—everything is freshly cooked, allowing the talented cook to adjust the flavors to perfection. It's hands down the best Thai food within a 70km radius. The little red trailer adds a charming, unique touch, and I truly hope the owners can open a solid restaurant in the future. It's definitely worth stopping by to enjoy a beautiful, flavorful meal. Plus, they have fresh farm eggs, which is a nice bonus!

We stopped by Hunger Eze Takeaway on our drive back from Kangaroo Island to Melbourne and what an absolute gem this place turned out to be. The food was incredible, so fresh and packed with flavour that it honestly felt like we were transported straight to Thailand. Every bite was bursting with authenticity. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the customer service made the experience even better. You can tell they genuinely care about the food they serve and the people who walk through their doors. If you are ever passing by this place is a must visit. We are so glad we found it.

Showed up to Rapid Bay with no food. And found out there was a take out joint up the hill. I was surprised to find it was run out of someone's home kitchen and the service was heaps better than any I've ever had. Food was excellent. The dog that accompanies you while you wait was adorable. An excellent stop for anyone in the area

Ideal stop after the ferry ride:) We enjoyed a warm welcome by Leon and he even let us feed the emu’s while we were waiting for our pad thai! The chef served us a delicious meal. What a nice experience, best unexpected way to end our day!
